Web and Mobile Apps Review
Facebook was created in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg initially created for connecting students at Harvard University and other close Ivy league institution. Later in 2006 allowed the general population to have access. Facebook has evolved into an enormous website. Over time like most social networking apps created their own app. This app is what I will be reviewing.
Functionality: I have had numerous years of experience with the Facebook app. There were times the app was very glitchy or consumed with bugs. Overtime they have continuously established updates that improved performance and alleviated bugs within their application. Functionality is outstood for the Facebook app because it is no longer just a social app to connect friends. In recent years it has offered features that I don’t believe would work well other competitors apps.
Features: Facebook app offers dating features allowing you to go on dates or talk to potential single people within your area. Facebook marketplace my personal favorite feature, and probably the only reason I have redownloaded the app on frequent occasions. Marketplace allows you to buy or sell any personal items. Those items can be computer devices, furniture, clothes, boats, cars, even housing properties. With short length video formats becoming extremely popular within the beginning of this new decade. The Facebook app also has its own version also known as short reels into their platform.
User Interface (UI) Design: The UI is very friendly and easy to navigate amongst the various features that are implemented. Which is very impressive, for the immense number of features that a once just social networking app slowly developed into. Designs of the app are very modernized always creating new sleek fonts and tab navigations to rotate through the features the Facebook app offers. Not to mention interaction is some of the developers focus so commenting, liking a post all are easy to perform and view amongst whatever the user is viewing.
Performance: Facebook currently has over 3 billion monthly users. For an application of this magnitude, it has a fantastic performance. You can transition through the various features I mentioned before seamlessly. One moment you’re looking at posts from friends and pages your associated with, seconds later flip through various photos related to a marketplace sale. Short-reel video format sometimes have high-quality video outputs, and the app never lags with display never buffering or unable to deliver.
Recommendations: The app is not perfect, but it does a phenomenal job for users to utilize. I believe their recommendations post can be infringed at times. Constantly bombarding your feed with pages you’ve never heard of. I wish it would slow down that portion of exposure, I understand the user engagement approach. However, at this it can be overwhelming. Secondly it should focus on friends again, although some of the additional features are great. It takes away from the core framework of the Facebooks initial creation. But, when you have over 3 billion users and one of the biggest creations in mankind for decades evolution is standard procedure. Lastly, I would recommend Facebook allow more personalization to the overall app. Allowing custom colors or photos, rather than the traditional light or dark theme. You can customize a background photo on your on-profile page, but it lacks aesthetic.
